Frequently Asked Questions

1. When will I be notified about the acceptance of my paper?

Authors will be informed of the acceptance or rejection of their paper no later than early May 2025.

2. Can I present online instead of attending in person?

No. While it’s possible to attend the conference online (listening only), please note that presentations will only be held on-site and cannot be delivered remotely. That said, online participants are welcome to take part in discussions by asking questions.

3. Is financial support available for travel and accommodation?

Unfortunately, no financial support will be available for travel and/or accommodation.

4. When will the conference program be available?

The full conference program will be released not later than mid-June 2025. All details will be available in the “Program” section.

The conference will open with a keynote lecture on Monday, September 22, 2025, at 18:00 CEST, in the Aula am Campus (Hof 1.11, i.e., courtyard 1, room 11), at the University of Vienna Campus. Doors open at 17:30 CEST. Over the following two days (September 23 – 24, 2025), the discussions will continue with participant presentations, organized into thematic sessions. The conference will conclude on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, by 17:00 CEST. An optional conference dinner is planned for Tuesday, September 23, 2025. Please note that this networking dinner requires separate reservation and payment.

5. What is the registration period and the participant fee?

All registration details can be found in the “Registration” section.

Early-bird registration will be open from April 30 to July 6, 2025. Standard registration will run from July 7 until September 1, 2025. Registration for online attendance (listening only) will remain open until the start of the conference.

The registration fees are indicated in the table below and will cover coffee breaks on September 23 and 24, as well as a welcome reception after the keynote on September 22. Online participation (listening only) will be possible, including the opportunity to take part in discussions by asking questions, but paper presentations will be limited to in-person attendees.

6. Will any parts of the conference be photographed or recorded?

Parts of the conference may be photographed. Images may be used to promote the 2025 international conference Beyond Infrastructure? (Un-)built Environments in the Anthropocene on the event website, as well as on the websites and social media channels of the ERC Advanced Grant InfraNorth project and the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology, University of Vienna.
